The scary thing about the awesome Meryl Streep speech

My words do not have the gravitas to either underline, summarize or praise Meryl Streep's speech at the Golden Globe. Hence, with no introduction, here is a link to the speech

In response to this speech,  Donald Trump said the following "Meryl Streep, one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big".

Overrated. That is what Donald Trump called Meryl Streep. This is a list of Meryl Streep's achievements

·         The actor with the most Academy Award (19)and Golden Globe nominations (27). Both cumulatively and individually.

·         Has played the most real-life characters in the history of cinema.

·         One of only 4 thespians to be nominated for acting honors by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences over 5 decades.

These are just the most illustrious ones that I listed. There are many, many more.

This proves an indisputable fact - Meryl Streep is not overrated. She is anything but that.

In an alternative reality (a reality before Nov 8' 16), Donald Trump would have been ridiculed, taking to the cleaners for such a comment against a much less decoated artist.

In today's reality, a large section of people will blindly believe his erratic statement, take it as gospel truth and malign Meryl Streep.

It is ironical that in a time when facts are available in the palm of our hand, an unreasonable man's baseless opinions find more believability.

Today. When true fact goes head-to-head with false opinion, the latter wins.

This status quo may remain for 4 years. 

And that's really, really scary.
