Being a cricket fanatic and a fanatic of the Indian cricket team means signing up for a lot of heartbreaks. It's feeling that heartbreak more when they lose - signing up for sleepless nights, a feeling of absolute loss that hits right in the gut and stays there for a while. It's living with the irrationality of those emotions.
The heartbreaks come more often, like they did on November 19th, 2023. But then that high comes, like it did yesterday. And the blind, but firm faith you have put behind your team, behind these 2 individuals in the picture, is vindicated. That feeling is not possible to put in words. But the word that probably does it the most justice is
Pride...in the team, in the game they play and the effort they put. It's the pride in the conduct Rohit shows and the skill the other 14 do.
Pride (not arrogance) is important to hold onto. It's a representation of the belief in your skill, your process and your resolve to get things done. When your team wins, it is the firmest reminder of holding on that pride in your area of expertise. Because on the night that matters, if they can, then on your day, at your workplace, you can too.
That's sport. Belief. In your team. As a representation of your pride. And a motivation to fuel your pride to excel too.
Thank you, Team India, for helping keeping the pride of the hopelessly hopeful indian cricket fanatic alive.
